Qualifications, Knowledge, Attitudes

The C.C.E. Coordinator will be a person of the Christian faith who is open to learning from new experiences. It is preferred that he or she has some background working with children of various ages and possesses an understanding of the developmental stages of children. She or he must agree to the screening policy of the United Church of Canada by supplying a current police check prior to agreement of employment.

Appointment

The Official Board of Kimbourne Park United Church appoints the C.C.E. Coordinator for a contract (initially January–June, then September–June), which is open to renewal.

Responsibility

The Children’s Christian Education Coordinator oversees the Church school, develops and maintains Church School policies, recruits, trains and mentors teachers from our congregation. She/he ensures that the teachers have the curriculum and resources to teach and keeps the congregation informed about the Church School. The Coordinator is an ex officio member of Session.

The C.C.E. Coordinator agrees to follow the Church School policies as adopted by the Session.

Specific Duties

• Implement a Church School curriculum;
• Plan and teach a Multi-age group on a weekly basis;
• Actively listen to input and feedback of children and young people;
• Manage the Church School budget including development of annual budget;
• Maintain class rolls and communication with parents to encourage attendance;
• Oversee Children’s Christian Education physical facility working with the Property Committee when appropriate to keep rooms and furnishings tidy, attractive and functional. Bulletin boards and room decorations regularly maintained:
• Manage the resources, ordering materials and supplies as needed;
• Be willing to participate in worship leadership on Sunday mornings;
• Submit short articles for newsletter;
• Prepare and present reports to Session meetings and Annual General meeting;
• Have fun, laugh with us, forgive us when we falter and enjoy.

Accountability

When the Christian Education Coordinator needs assistance she/he should consult with the minister and or the M&P committee. On issues where it would be helpful to have input from the congregation, the Board may be consulted.
