Our June 8 Community free BBQ was a resounding success!
Mother Nature sent clouds and a breeze to temper the heat wave. The S.P.A.C.E. East York Community School of Performing Arts brought a half-dozen young performers who brought music and dancing to the event, with selections ranging from Hairspray to Seussical: The Musical.
And our faithful BBQ partner, Trull Funeral Home, sponsored food and drink for everyone in the community. Face painter Ashley, from the East End Children's Centre, delighted the little ones with rainbows, frogs, butterflies and more, adorning their skin on request from head to toe. And heartfelt thanks go to the many Kimbourne Park members who helped with everything from advertising to cooking to cleanup, and much more.
So many people attended, we served over 250 hamburgers — and lost count of the hot dogs!
